We wanted to provide a location with concise, useful information on what individuals can do to make sure that every eligible voter can have their vote counted in the November election. Why Now?
ElectionPreparedness.com is focused on what you can do, on a practical basis, to ensure that you and ALL eligible voters can vote. If you can't easily find the answers online or by phone, please organize your communities NOW to guarantee that you as individual voters and your local election officials have done everything possible to prepare before the deadlines and before the November 4 election. Time is running out! (For now, we have chosen not to focus on issues over which members of the public wish to litigate or on matters for legislative determination.)
Go straight to the source! In our Deadlines section you can click on your state's name to go directly to their website on Elections. To get contact information for your local election office, try Project Vote Smart. You can also try calling one of the Hotlines in our Resources section.
ElectionPreparedness.com has chosen not to highlight issues such as electronic voting machines, security, verifiability, transparency, etc., because we are concentrating on key voting-related activities that local communities and voters can definitely impact NOW, and because many others in the election integrity movement continue to feature these problems.
We know that there are legitimate issues of concern over the absentee ballot process, e.g, potential intimidation, deception, fraud. However, unless voters feel confident - indeed, as certain as possible - that they can and will wait for however long it takes (up to eight hours or even more) for them to vote at their polling place on November 4, and they are not otherwise able to vote early where they live, then it's better for them to vote by absentee ballot than to take a chance that they can't or won't vote at all.
The countdown timer is based on one second after midnight (Eastern time) on November 4, when voters in Dixville Notch and Hart's Location, NH, will be eligible to cast their votes at the polls.
